Played racquetball at Tom Brown park today with Brad, Sarah, Christine, and Marie. Held my own against the ladies, but Brad schooled the shit out of me. In my defense, by the time we played mano-a-mano I had already played a lot and all the sweat coming into my eyes really fucked up my right contact, which killed my depth perception. Regardless, Brad’s really good, like Jarret, so he beat me...
The Incredible Flying Granny Nanny - New York... →
My grandmother helps out my Mom by babysitting Anna Claire once a week, but she only has to drive 40 minutes from Lebanon to Hendersonville. I can’t even imagine what she would say if we lived further apart and suggested she fly in to babysit.

Looks like California is going to beat Florida to it. They’ve got Matt Bishop, David Wagner, Ed Felten, Matt Blaze, and Harri Hursti. Jeez, was Avi Ruben busy?

Since I’ll be moving to the Bay County area soon for my new job I’m glad to know they’re trying to bring in a decent sized airport.

Last Harvest Review
I finished Last Harvest last night (I linked to it a few weeks ago). An interesting book which opened my eyes to certain aspects of home development, but it could have been better if it weren’t for the glaring and obvious editorial bent.
The book followed the development of a community called New Dalesville in south(west?) Chester(field) Pennslyvania. The author detailed the process,...
I love the combination of daylight savings and summertime. Daylight for hours and hours in the evening and, so far, temperatures in the upper 70s. My (new?) favorite part of the year, even if the day can sometimes get quite hot during midday.
I started working for the Department of State Division of Elections today—this is a short term job I was offered at the end of the school year, to...

It’s weird to read a mainstream media story featuring people you just met today at work.

Cinco de Mayo
Good weekend at Mark’s parent’s lake house(? compound? It’s a 5 acre lakeside property with multiple dwellings). Hung outside all day in the sun drinking Mexican beers and swimming in the lake.
I took a relaxing nap on one of their floating dock thingies and got some nice sun (no sunburn, that’s a first).
My tentative offer from NSWC-PC came in the mail Saturday. The...
Dinosaur Jr.: Beyond: Pitchfork Record Review →
I’ve been a Dinosaur Jr fan for a couple of years and had lamented the fact that they were long gone by the time I discovered them. It’s great to see them back and the album sounds great (I just signed up for emusic.com and got it there)
Employment
I had my job interview with the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City yesterday. I interviewed with three departments, though I don’t know if interview is the right word, as they had all seen my resume ahead of time and gotten a positive recommendation from my friend Kenny that already works there. Mostly I was shown around and told about the projects each department was working on.
It...
Trip Home
The trip home was uneventful, though it felt incredibly long. I got tired of listening to music on the way there, so I bought a few audiobooks for the trip back. The one I’ve listened to so far, Boomsday by Christopher Buckley (the guy that wrote Thank You For Smoking), was a disappointment.
Anna Claire’s birthday party itself was quite fun. My Mom commented that poor Anna Claire...
Cabana West →
I will be moving to Panama City (Beach?) soon when (if?) I get my final job offer. My friend Kenny lives here and I’m trying to decide which floor plan, the Cabana or the Trace, I would pick. I’m leaning towards the Trace because it has a study.
