Employment
I had my job interview with the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City yesterday. I interviewed with three departments, though I don’t know if interview is the right word, as they had all seen my resume ahead of time and gotten a positive recommendation from my friend Kenny that already works there. Mostly I was shown around and told about the projects each department was working on.
It seemed to go well and that feeling was confirmed this morning when I got a call from HR telling me that all three departments were interested in making me an offer—I had to decide what my preference was. That caught me off guard so I asked for a few hours to think about it. After thinking about the projects, looking at the website, and reviewing the brochures I decided on a department preference. When I called HR back they told me they were going to start the process of preparing the official offer. Due to the way the hiring process works the amount of time this takes is variable, meaning it might be ready tomorrow, next week, or next month.
In light of my lease in Tallahassee through the end of July, as well as the work I have arranged on e-voting, I’m eager to start as soon as possible, but I’m not stressed about it. The e-voting project looks interesting so I hope I’m able to complete whatever work they had in mind for me.
I also have to start looking for a place to live, as indicated in the prior post about Cabana West where Kenny lives. Lots of things to do: changing residence, registering to vote, et al. It looks like adult life is starting very soon.
