The Comcast guy just left. His explanation for the “On Demand” outage is that the cable box I have, a Scientific Atlantic, has had software problems ever since Comcast started using it and that the engineers at both Scientific Atlantic and Comcast are working on it. Apparently it’s not a big deal because only 5% of subscribers use this box. The tech also said that Comcast wouldn’t just replace the boxes with equivalent Motorola boxes used elsewhere because of cost.

Fantastic. I’ll have to make sure to keep getting a credit on my account until they decide to fix it.
