I saw the movie Superbad last night. I thought it was very funny, though it was slightly too blue. Not that I would have changed anything, but just the sheer vulgarity took my breath away—it was less full of the standard words like “fuck” and filled more with high school style “dickface” and other less heard swearing.

One of the things that really struck me about the movie was the high volume of socially awkward cringe-inducing moments. Kind of like the teenager-focused shows on television that I used to watch. There are scenes where a character is doing something or saying something so awkward that its hard to watch, but you can’t turn away because its like watching a trainwreck.

I felt just as embarrassed for myself as for the characters because it reminded me of high school—the part about being socially awkward, not the obsession with sex. Thankfully, I managed to avoid the partying, beer drinking, and casual sex of high school. I waited until college for that ;-).
