I spoke with Jon on the phone yesterday afternoon for the first time since Katie’s wedding this summer. Things seem to be going well for him: his project at Hubbell is nearing completion after three years and he’s been seeing a girl for the past two months. His girlfriend sounds nice and seems to have her life focused, which is a nice change of pace from some of the girls he had mentioned meeting at bars in the past year or two.
We swapped work stories and commiserated about post-college 9-to-5 life. Hopefully he’ll be able to take some vacation and visit me sometime in the future. That’s the nice thing about living near the beach—it’ll be easier to convince people to come visit.
An interesting aspect of Jon’s girlfriend is that she’s 24 (I think, could be off by a year) and divorced with two children. We didn’t speak much about that aspect, but I wonder how that affects things? I love kids, especially young ones, but I would imagine it would make the beginning of a relationship interesting, though not bad. Jon’s a pretty mature fellow though, so I’m sure it’s no big deal.
